Aggressive Traffic Ticket Defense

As a former police officer and a lawyer for over 30 years, I know how to effectively challenge traffic tickets and criminal traffic offenses. If I can't get the ticket dismissed, I will seek to have charges reduced to limit the fines and civil consequences. I can help you fight all types of traffic tickets and moving violations issued in DuPage, Kane or Cook counties:

Traffic violations can have serious consequences. Driving while your license is suspended or revoked (DWLS/DWLR) is a major offense that can lead to longer suspensions of a revocation for several years or a lifetime, in addition to criminal penalties. As a result of recent changes to the traffic laws in Illinois, driving on a suspended license is a class 4 felony.

These consequences can be particularly severe for people who are under 21. For people over 21, many traffic offenses can result in court supervision - this keeps a conviction off of a driver's record, and allows a driver to avoid further penalties. For drivers under 21 though, the law imposes greater restrictions. To be eligible for court supervision rather than a conviction, a young driver must attend traffic school. Among other things, avoiding a conviction can have significant consequences for your insurance rates.

License Suspension and Reinstatement

Certain traffic violations, such as speeding in a school zone or construction zone, or passing a stopped school bus, carry high mandatory fines and can result in loss of license.

You can also lose your license for accumulating multiple citations:

  • Under age 21 - two traffic convictions in a two-year period
  • Over 21 - three traffic convictions in one year

As an experienced traffic violation defense lawyer, I work diligently to help clients have their driving privileges reinstated following a traffic conviction. I represent clients in Secretary of State's administrative hearings on license suspension or reinstatement. This includes working to "un-suspend" your license by re-examining the original traffic violation that led to suspension. If we are successful at your drivers' license reinstatement hearing, you can get your license reinstated and your record will not reflect the erroneous suspension.
